Eco-Friendly Newborn Diapers
Eco-Friendly Newborn Diapers
For those of you who choose to use disposable diapers, here some info on them. Baby Bee was born 7 lb 6 oz but 20.75" long! So he was a long skinny boy. The hospital started him in newborn Pampers, which worked well. I used them for the first few days as all the other eco-friendly diapers I'd stocked up on were massive in comparison.
365 Whole Foods Diapers
For these the newborn size was the closest to Pamper's newborn diapers. They were the first ones I switched too when I ran out of Pampers. We never had a blowout, but we did have a fair amount of leaks. However this was before I read about pointing little boy wees downwards (a must, for ANY diaper if you don't want soaked clothes, sheets, etc multiple times a night). Would buy again in a pinch since I can get them local at whole foods. They are pricey however.Naty by Nature
These in the newborn size were slightly larger than the 365 Diapers. However they are very rouch and paper-like. Think of wrapping your newborn baby in a paper bag, that's how these felt, at least on the outside. The insides were a little softer. We still had a lot of problems with leaks as I was well into using these before I read about pointing his wee down. Since we started doing that we haven't had a leak or a blowout. But big newborn poos I can see through the leg gussets, so I feel sometimes we were perilously close to having a blowout. Since we never went longer than 4 hours max (usually 2 hrs) without a change, I think we were pretty safe. If your baby sleeps longer you might have a problem. Also, there is some question as to whether these are really plastic free as amazon won't ship them to California. I bought them to try on a super good open box amazon deal. Won't buy again.Bamboo Nature
These are like the Rolls-Royce of eco-friendly cloth diapers. Super soft on the outside and inside, akin to cloth. They are by far softer than any of the other diapers I have and after using some of the others a few times in a row and switching to these I am always shocked by how much softer they are. We used these for nighttime before I learned about pointing the wee down and rarely had a leak. Since pointing down we have had no leaks at all, but I've been trying to use up my stash of the others before going to these full time. They are quite a bit bigger than the 3 previously mentioned diapers. Now close to 8 lbs they are fitting him better, but we couldn't use them when he was skinny and first born, too much leg gap. These are the diapers I will continue to buy from here on out.Andy Pandy
The newborn size is even bigger than Bamboo nature newborns! They are almost as soft, but the fit isn't as good. We have had a fair amount of leaks with them so far, but we'll see how we do when he gets bigger and fits them better. I plan to use them to bridge between Bamboo Nature newborn (size 1) and size 2s. Won't buy again.
